His company, All American Racers, paid to restore his 1967 Eagle and present it to him on his birthday.
Dan had quite a good year in 1967. In the span of 19 days he raced 4 races, winning the Grand Prix of Spa and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He was the person who started the tradition of spraying champagne on the podium at the end of a race. Go Dan.

Dan Gurney is the Bill Brasky of auto racing.
In the '66 12 Hours of Sebring, Gurney's GT40 had it's engine seize on the last lap of the race. Gurney was disqualified shortly thereafter because he jumped out and pushed the car 1/4 mile across the finish line.

Good for him. I just wish that he would have just drank the champagne instead of starting the ridiculous tradition.
